An anniversary to remember

Well, yesterday was our 18th wedding anniversary and we celebrated it with several of Don's friends at the Methodist ER. Unfortunately, it wasn't a social visit. Don's "strained tendon" turned out to be a DVT (deep venous thrombosis or blood clot in the leg, for those of you who aren't medical folks). The Nazi Nurse (yours truly) had been nagging him about it for several days. Saturday evening he couldn't bear weight and refused to go to the ER until the morning "if it isn't better". Of course, by then he had all the classic symptoms. We owe a debt of gratitude to the great ER staff at Methodist for their TLC... Don convinced the doc to send him home on anticoagulants. He is behaving himself now, resting on the couch with his leg elevated. Our local hematologist will provide follow-up care in Lewisville. The good news is that his blood counts were all great! Just mild anemia.
Some people will go to great lengths to get out of an anniversary celebration. This was a day for the memory book! God continues to bless us with a sense of adventure and much needed humor. And, of course, there are all of you who continue to call, email and pray for us. Thank you!
